Our Own Quilts

The quilts pictured below were made for our own use or as gifts for family members.

Of course, family quilts get everyone involved: even the webmaster gets his fingers pried off the keyboard from time to time and put to work hand-stitching binding.

"Liberty Lily," a wall-hanging from the book Women of Grace and Charm. This was our July 2004 web home page quilt.

"Akebia Flowers," a small wall hanging from Kumiko Sudo's book Fabled Flowers, made in 2000 for a quilt shop challenge, in which it took first place. The appliqued dimensional folded flowers were made from the challenge fabric. Quilted with sashiko-inspired designs in the background and veins machine-stitched over the appliqued leaves.

"South for the Winter," a kit pieced by Larye. The Monkey Wrench blocks suggest flying geese, but in an abstract way, so Judy quilted abstract ghost geese in the background blocks. Shown at the 2004 Missoula Quilt Guild show, "Down on the Farm," May 22-23, 2004.
