Bead Embellishments

In addition to traditional quilts, quilting services, and hand-woven pieces,we also embellish our original works with beads, wire, felt, and non-woven fibers; on dolls, bags, and quilts. As with many of our products, we do not stock an inventory: most works are one-of-a-kind creations. Commissions are most welcome. For a consultation and quote, contact us.

Title piece: "Brigid," a 9.5-inch (24cm) bead sculpture on a fabric armature, which won first place in the 2005 challenge show sponsored by The Beaded Pony of Stevensville, Montana, and a Reserve Grand Champion award in the 2006 Ravalli County Fair. Original design by Judy.

"Reclamation," a large wall hanging inspired by the impending removal of the Milltown Dam on the Clark Fork River above Missoula, Montana. The 100-year-old rubble-filled timber dam, failing and no longer needed to power the sawmill, holds behind it huge deposits of toxic mine waste sediments from the copper mines at Anaconda, 100 miles upstream. The elements in the quilt represent the impacts on the environment of man's ambitions, with the crumbling dam in the center. Hand-made fiber mask, fiber, rust, and bleached fish, with copper and beadwork dam.

Fiber and bead mask on "Reclamation."

"Reclamation" detail: stamped Angelina fish swim through the dam.

"Reclamation" detail: rust-dyed fish swim in deep water below the dam.
