Our Own Quilts
The quilts pictured below were made for our own use or as gifts for family members.
Of course, family quilts get everyone involved: even the webmaster gets his fingers pried off the keyboard from time to time and put to work hand-stitching binding.

Most quilts are made to be used and enjoyed. Cats particularly love quilts of any kind. Because many of our clients may not appreciate cats or have allergies to them, our quilting studio is located in a cat-free environment in a separate building. |

The round table runner shown above with our cat, Nicolaus, is pieced and appliqued, and machine-quilted on a standard free-arm sewing machine. This is a closeup, showing the applique and stippling. |

Re-cycling: Frugal pioneers made the most of their possessions by recycling worn-out clothing into quilts for bedding. This tradition is carried on today by preserving and displaying T-shirt art from a child's favorite but outgrown shirts, or from family travels and recreational events. "Re-Cycled" is made from bicycle club event shirts. Since the Tyvek registration numbers weren't suitable for quilting, we had them scanned and copied onto the shirt backs, re-using as much fabric as possible. Family photos also make popular keepsake quilts: the center piece is from a photo of us taken during the 1988 Daffodil Classic. |

This quilt was a commission from our daughter-in-law. She spotted a quilt she liked in a department store, but it wasn't quite the right colors for her guest room decor. It's obviously a utility quilt, with no fancy piecing. The check pattern in the fabric stands on its own. |
