Our Own Quilts

The quilts pictured below were made for our own use or as gifts for family members.

Of course, family quilts get everyone involved: even the webmaster gets his fingers pried off the keyboard from time to time and put to work hand-stitching binding.

What do machine quilters do to relax? They hand-quilt. This throw pillow is promise-stitched, a foundation-pieced string quilting style that originated in Appalachia and has become very popular in Western Montana. Hand pieced, hand appliqued, embellished with buttons and a hand-crocheted lace border. Front and back views. Finished September 2002.
