Our Own Quilts

The quilts pictured below were made for our own use or as gifts for family members.

Of course, family quilts get everyone involved: even the webmaster gets his fingers pried off the keyboard from time to time and put to work hand-stitching binding.

My sister picked out a quilt pattern she liked because of the shading. The pattern was for a small wall hanging, and her quilt was to be for a king-sized bed. I reworked the blended nine-patch technique to blend light to dark from top to bottom instead of from the center out, and used a solid border.

The pillow shams for the blended nine-patch variation shown above are made more in keeping with the original wall hanging that inspired the king-sized quilt: fussy-cutting the large-print fabric to produce the blended effect.

"Liberty Lily," a wall-hanging from the book Women of Grace and Charm. This was our July 2004 web home page quilt.
