Our Own Quilts

The quilts pictured below were made for our own use or as gifts for family members.

Of course, family quilts get everyone involved: even the webmaster gets his fingers pried off the keyboard from time to time and put to work hand-stitching binding.

"Akebia Flowers," a small wall hanging from Kumiko Sudo's book Fabled Flowers, made in 2000 for a quilt shop challenge, in which it took first place. The appliqued dimensional folded flowers were made from the challenge fabric. Quilted with sashiko-inspired designs in the background and veins machine-stitched over the appliqued leaves.

This quilt started as a kit for "Ragtime," but got augmented and adapted from my stash. Created as a 25th wedding anniversary gift for my niece and her husband. This quilt took third place viewers choice in the Nine Patch category at the 2004 Missoula Quilt Guild Show, May 22-23.
