Our Own Quilts
The quilts pictured below were made for our own use or as gifts for
family members.
Of course, family quilts get everyone involved: even the webmaster
gets his fingers pried off the keyboard from time to time and put to
work hand-stitching binding.

| This queen sized quilt
started as a class project to make a Buggy Barn lap quilt. I liked
the stars so much, I made a queen sized quilt, with enough stars left
over that three of them spilled out into the border. There's one on
the back, too. Quilted with feathers in the border, big stars in the
centers of the stars, and a meandering string of little stars in the
background. Photographed at the Sapphire Quilt Guild's 2002
Apple Valley Quilt Show, Stevensville, Montana, August 2002.

This queen/king-sized quilt was
made for our oldest granddaughter for her fifth wedding anniversary.
The central motif is a set of 25 "Nipper" blocks from Joan
Hawley's book "Lazy and Lovin' It," from Lazy Girl Designs. The layout
and color selections were done using the EQ5 software, from the Electric Quilt
Company. Quilted with circles, roses, leaves and vines, and
quarter-inch technique. Photographed at the Sapphire Quilt Guild's 2002
Apple Valley Quilt Show, Stevensville, Montana, August 2002.

Detail of the
anniversary quilt above. Each fabric in the foreground represents a family
member, with dark blue for the father, blue floral for the mother,
pink floral for the daughter, and lighter shades of blue for the two sons.
